Sneyd colliery, Hanley (1887-1962). This is one of the oldest colliery
sites in the district and throughout the years a forward looking
management has kept pace with modern trends in mining practice with the
result that Sneyd colliery became one of the most modern collieries in
North Staffordshire between the two World War. Examples of this may be
seen in the automatic decking plant and the double chain gate stokers at
the boilers, both examples the first of their kind in the district.
