Three explosions were recorded in Minnie pits’ history:
6 February 1898, which happened on a Sunday when fortunately no one
was at work, but all the pit ponies perished.
Sunday 17 January 1915. Nine men were killed and many were severely
injured. This photograph shows a memorial post-card issued at the time
of this explosion.
The third disaster occurred on 12th January 1918. The
