Road improvements necessitated the removal in 1964 of the
memorial from its original site (at the junction of the roads to
Whitfield, Norton and Ball Green) to a new position in a lawned
setting on a post war housing development in Ball Green where it is
here seen. With the incision of the dates 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 in
the small panel at the base of the shaft of the cross, the memorial
now commemorates the Whifield dead of two World Wars.
