A typical haulage scene near to the coal face in 1960.
Tubs are being filled by conveyor before being hauled outbye to the pit
bottom by means of the endless rope. The chain on the ground was used
for ‘lashing’ the loaded tubs on. Empty tubs would be travelling
inbye to replace those used. The haulage system was normally operated by
newly trained young miners under the supervision of more experienced
miners. |
