Dedication of the South and North Staffords War Memorials in
1922
The North Staffords lost over 4,000 men in the First World War,
and the South Staffords lost over 6,000. The War Memorials stand
between the Keep and the Parade Square. That of the North Staffords
is surmounted by a Chinese dragon (left) and that of the South
Staffords by a sphinx.
